Multiple reported the news. Gibbs' rookie contract applied its first four built-in years through 2026, and then the Lions had the option to keep him around for a fifth season from that initial deal. Why Jack Campbell didn't get same move The Lions declined the linebacker Campbell's option in the same sequence of moves. The reason? Campbell would've made about $22 million in his 2027 option year.
