The made a decision everyone was expecting. On Tuesday night, they exercised the fifth-year option on Jahmyr Gibbs' Stephen Halliday Jersey contract, which applies to the 2027 season. Multiple reported the news. Gibbs' rookie contract applied its first four built-in years through 2026, and then the Lions had the option to keep him around for a fifth season from that initial deal. Jahmyr Gibbs extension update The Lions are still hoping to sign Gibbs to an extension. If they do, it will likely at least partially incorporate this option salary. Could that mean Gibbs gets $15 million or more per year? It certainly seems that way. Why Jack Campbell didn't get same move The Lions declined the linebacker Campbell's option in the same sequence of moves. The reason? Campbell would've made about $22 million in his 2027 option year.
