A former cornerback is hanging up his cleats. According to a , former Steelers cornerback Darius Slay is retiring from the NFL after 13 seasons. Here's what Slay posted to social media: "Dear football, I wanna thank you for all youve done for me. Ive been ble sed to play the game I loved since I was 5yrs old for an amazing 13yrs at the highest level Jacob Waguespack Jersey ," Slay said. "Football was my peace, my joy, my everything. This game put me in a position to help take care of my family and loved ones and Im forever grateful," he added. "Its hard to say goodbye, but God has a new chapter for me and Im ready to turn the page and start my new journey. "To all my BigPlay fans, I will always appreciate the love and support yall have given to me. I couldnt have done it without you. Just A kid from Brunswick, GA with BIG dreams... BigPlay on and off the field! We Out." Slay was initially a second-round pick of the in 2013 and spent seven years with the franchise, where he became one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, earning three Pro Bowl nods and one first-team All-Pro in that span. Slay then moved on to play for the , where he notched three more Pro Bowl selections and a Super Bowl ring over five campaigns. His Steelers stint came in 2025, when Slay appeared in 10 games for Pittsburgh before being waived near the end of the season. The scooped Slay up off waivers after that, but and instead decided to sit out the rest of the campaign. "It wasn't a bad fit. They just caught me at a bad time," Slay said of the Bills. "I talked to them, it was like a little mutual talk, but I said 'Hey, I'm 34 man. I know y'all be watching tape but I'm trying to relax with my family and kids.' I ain't feel like packing up and moving. Then, on top of that, no offense to Buffalo (but) it's cold as hell. I'm from the south, baby. We don't know what snow looks like."
