When the signed Dallas Goedert to a one-year contract on Sunday to return to Philly, the NFL insiders who reported it almost immediately turned it into A.J. Brown news. Apparently, Brown and Goedert have been linked in many minds. Whether that's actually true is beside the point. What is true is that fans got a new update on what's happening with Brown. "Some of the complication in working out a resolution with Goedert stemmed from Philadelphia's need to also simultaneously juggle the future of wide receiverA Willy Hernangomez Jersey .J. Brown, whose name has been bandied about in trade rumors and carries a cap hit of $23.4 million into 2026," on Sunday. "Brown's situation remains fluid in the wake of Goedert re-signing, per (Ian) Rapoport and (Mike) Garafolo." Goedert was a free agent and could've gone to play tight end elsewhere, but he and the Eagles reached a compromise that allows him to return to Philadelphia after catching a career-high 11 touchdowns in 2025. He also had a career-best 60 catches. "Thus, as the Eagles seek to reinvigorate an offense that limped to 19th in scoring during their Super Bowl defense, keeping Goedert for Year 9 became pivotal, leading to two delays and finally a deal struck against the newest established deadline," Kownack writes. The Eagles would benefit financially from keeping Brown into the summer before trading him, so this might not reach a quick conclusion. "What becomes of his teammate Brown could still change over the coming months, especially when the dead money from a hypothetical Brown trade drops to $16.4 million from the current $43.4 million after June 1," Kownack writes.
